Access to Experts is a service led by Beca, in collaboration with NZ Landcare Trust. We’d like to acknowledge all our collaborators that help enable those wanting to protect their local waterways.
NZ Landcare Trust
NZ Landcare Trust/Ngā Matapopore Whenua is a grassroots organisation supporting communities in beneficial land and water management practices. NZ Landcare Trust partners with rural communities, catchment and landcare groups to make a tangible difference in the future of New Zealand’s waterways.
With the support of the NZ Landcare Trust, A2E has successfully identified local expertise and reached out to community and catchment groups nationwide. The Trust’s network of coordinators supports hundreds of catchment groups NZ-wide and collaborates directly with rural community leaders. This collaboration has empowered catchment groups to conceptualise and refine their applications for specialist advice.
Te Uru Kahika
Te Uru Kahika – Regional and Unitary Councils Aotearoa – represents the 16 regional councils and unitary authorities of New Zealand. They are underpinned by a network of subject matter experts (organised into Special Interest Groups) that provide regional Chief Executives with advice and expertise.
Our collaboration with Te Uru Kahika ensures nationwide outreach with the 16 regional councils and unitary authorities councils across the motu, supporting councils to work with central government and achieve good outcomes.
Support from Te Uru Kahika means we’ve been able to communicate directly with regional councils and unitary authorities as part of a specialist forum, to champion best practice, information sharing and cross-council collaboration.
We look forward to collaborating with Te Uru Kahika and hearing their expertise and local knowledge for the wellbeing of our environments and communities.
Papa Pounamu
A2E has also proudly collaborated with Papa Pounamu, champions for the role of Māori in the Aotearoa New Zealand planning framework and the empowerment and enabling of Māori in resource management, and environmental planning and decision making.
Through the guidance and connections of Papa Pounamu, we’ve been able to connect with a range of Iwi and hāpu on a mission to restore and enhance their tīpuna awa and roto (culturally significant waterways and waterbodies).
This means the service can support those seeking to enhance Te Mana o te Wai - the health and wellbeing of water - but also that of the communities that whakapapa and connect to those waters.
We would like to acknowledge the past, present and future contribution of Papa Pounamu to A2E and their commitment to whakamana (empowerment) and grow this service.
